Basic psychology understands both negative and positive emotions and does not wish them away but rather endeavours to keep an individual adequately functional irrespective of current life issues.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14707730.post-31545638223154599022012-04-15T19:51:47.224-04:002012-04-15T19:51:47.224-04:00i definitely agree with the fact that many busines...i definitely agree with the fact that many business constructs actively reduce rather than increase happiness. (i would add many societal constructs and "norms" do the same -- behaviors such as greed, competition, and always striving yet never being satisfied are not solely the province of corporations.)

however, i must point out that those *properly* teaching and practicing positive psychology have *repeatedly* addressed the fact that "magical thinking" IS NOT a part of the picture.

Even in Mr. Seligman's cited Authentic Happiness work, he clearly states that positive psychology should avoid "rose colored glasses" and "Pollyanna-ism."

The desire of properly practiced positive psychology is to determine WHY some businesses/societies/individuals fall prey to the concerns you have outlined; and, to attempt to empirically ascertain what, if any, more humanistic approaches exist and how to put those approaches into practice.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14707730.post-55996414257234566742010-02-27T01:36:35.910-05:002010-02-27T01:36:35.910-05:00great effort...is there any group or same minded p...great effort...is there any group or same minded people working in the stream which you belong to....would love to join u guys...my mail id- akb.1554@gmail.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14707730.post-56114405252672748582009-08-30T09:13:10.136-04:002009-08-30T09:13:10.136-04:00Great post. The same ideology and corporate culture has infiltrated education reform and perpetuates the status quo.
