John Wittle 1, Ruby Payne 0

Who is Ruby Payne, you ask. She is a marketing enterprise who has probably done more to advance real ignorance about poverty than anyone else in America. The way 14-year old, John Wittle calls her out, is a thing of beauty.

Your conclusions are not correct, and you offer nothing to back them up. You are guilty of just having an opinion and no data. Also, Ms. Payne does not perpetuate stereotypes or look down on the poor. She states that by teaching them how the middle class operates, they will then have a choice. She never states that either choice is better than the other.

Also, most of your 9 minutes was reading out of her book. If you feel strongly about this, get organized.

This kid ROCKS! Ruby Payne's classist "training" is shockingly unsound and is based on 'culture of poverty' sociological ideas that were discounted decades ago - with actual research.

Above anonymous, why don't you peruse some of the recent scholarly articles that rip Payne to shreds, and then get back to us about this kid's insight.

Ruby Payne does have some good points. But I think that much of what she writes perpetuates a stereotype. No one should have to turn their back on people they love in order to get ahead in life. She said in her book that in order to move up in class you may have to leave others behind. That is just cruel.
