St. Paul Teachers in Historic Battle

Sign the petition and support the St. Paul teachers.

A message from Jesse Hagopian:

I have been in close contact with the Saint Paul Federation of Teachers union president Mary Catherine Ricker who is leading one of the most important struggles for public education in the nation.

Mary is very inspired by the Seattle MAP boycott and has asked for my support in their struggle against standardized testing.  When I met Mary in L.A. a few weeks back, she told me the full story of how she got major community and parent support to attempt to get rid of a state mandated standardized test during their contract negotiations! Now the St. Paul district has walked away from negotiations.  Mary told me that they have a school board meeting on Tuesday and would really appreciate if we could help collect signatures on their petition and get the number of views on their video to climb.  The video makes a very good case for getting rid of standardized testing and moving towards authentic assessments.

See my blog post about it below.
Thanks so much!
