The NYTimes' October Surprise

With a Trump'S mountain of corrupt, illegal, and inhumane acts begging to be investigated, I'm glad to see the Times using its vast resources to tell us about a political act that was legal, regardless of the parties involved. A giant nothing burger www.nytimes.com/2026/10/28/u...

More Racist Lies from RFK, Jr.

Go no further than Wikipedia for a list of eminent modern Arab scholars. Actually, medieval Europeans imported the concept of "zero" from the Islamic world, where it had been refined as the mathematical absence of value. Zero, in fact, reflects the worth of the lying racist bastard, RFK, Jr.

Artificial Intimacy, the Ultimate Deskilling for Being Human Beings

MIT professor and psychologist, Sherry Turkle, has a new book, and she was interviewed yesterday on NPR's program, 1A.

Turkle conducted a number of experiments using AI bots the way that many Americans use them today. The results are both stunning and disturbing. This book should be on every teacher education reading list in the world, and it would make a great holiday gift for any parents with children.

I hope you take a few minutes to listen to this part of the program.

“A pointed critique of the growing impact of artificial intelligence on human relationships . . . [Turkle] urg[es] readers to question whether these tools enhance or inhibit personal growth. Harrowing and poignant, this timely warning deserves to be widely read.”

―Publishers Weekly  Starred Review

“Sherry Turkle is the exact right person at the exact right time to write us this exact book. A warning of what we must protect in our age of AI and a celebration of what it is to be human, Artificial Intimacy it is a love letter to humanity written by a woman of brilliance and heart.”

―Priya Parker, author of The Art of Fighting

“All around us, people are beguiled by the siren song of artificial intimacy. Chatbots offer inexpensive therapy, friendship, sexual fantasy, and even romantic love. Sherry Turkle's 40 years of groundbreaking research and beautiful writing make her the most qualified member of Team Humanity to call us back to our senses, and to each other.”

―Jonathan Haidt, author of The Anxious Generation
