This space explores issues in public education policy, and it advocates for a commitment to and a re-examination of the democratic purposes of schools. If there is some urgency in the message, it is due to the current reform efforts that are based on a radical re-invention of education, now spearheaded by a psychometric blitzkrieg of "metastasizing testing" aimed at dismantling a public education system that took almost 200 years to build. Romero's RTTT Bill Stalls in California Assembly
I most always have a link to the news story that I am blogging, but in this case there is not one. While Eli Broad's LA Times has this story about Romero's bribe acceptance bill squeaking through the California Senate, there is no mention in any newspaper that the Bill then stalled in the Assembly before the Assembly went home until 2010. So much for special sessions. And so much for corporate media coverage of the corporate ed reform smackdown. And so much for the Big Mo for the "Bribe to the Flop."
