Randi and Dennis Scurrying to Stay in the Game

For the past five years, NEA and AFT suits have capitulated over and over to the demands of the corporate overlords now have hijacked education policy in the U. S.  From the embrace of evaluation based on test scores, which represents the end of professional autonomy and the student-teacher relationship, to merit pay schemes with proven failure records, to the dismantling of job security, to the final embrace of the next generation high stakes testing delivery system (Common Core) that will be used to shut down and charterize public schools, beginning with those with the most vulnerable populations without political clout.

Randi and Dennis have sold the milliions of dues-paying teachers down the river, which has won them nothing except for job security for bloated bureaucracy comprised of lawyers earning six or seven figures, based on their ability to make teachers believe that rape is the only way to make love.

It is sickening to me, then, to see them parading about with their red shirts on, pretending to support social justice movement among Chicago teachers that is antithetical to what these two dangerous stooges have done to the teachers, the profession, and the children who attend the segregated test camps that were once nurturing schools.  If you hear Randi and Dennis speaking or see them approaching, run in the other direction.  They are the expensive properties of the oligarchs, and they have nothing positive to contribute to discussions of democratic schooling, professional autonomy, children's read and learn, or any other social justice issue that they have long ago forsaken.
