McDonnell is to deliver the Republican response after President Obama's speech Wednesday evening. McDonnell will speak live from the Virginia House of Delegates in Richmond before a friendly audience of about 300.
This space explores issues in public education policy, and it advocates for a commitment to and a re-examination of the democratic purposes of schools. If there is some urgency in the message, it is due to the current reform efforts that are based on a radical re-invention of education, now spearheaded by a psychometric blitzkrieg of "metastasizing testing" aimed at dismantling a public education system that took almost 200 years to build. GOP Reply to Obama from the Capitol of the Old Confederacy
The symbolism could not be more transparent, nor the theater more absurd. How does the Grand Ole Party solidify its fundamentalist nutjob wing with its racist nutjob wing? The U. S. Chamber of Commerce, er, the GOP is looking to Bob McDonnell to pull it off, the newly minted Virginia governor chosen to placate all those hard-working white Americans who "want their country back." Will McDonnell be the Great White Republican Hope for 2012? From Faux News:
