AFT Makes Sure HRC's Charter Positions Get Codified

After Randi Weingarten's passionate speech in favor, the following amendment to the Dem platform was passed yesterday with only four "nay" votes. 

This is classic Weingarten language, as the amendment decries what the amendment allows: we want charter schools, which, by definition, drain public resources, but we don't want them to drain public resources.  And we want charters to enroll ELLs and special needs children, even though we know that charters almost never provide adequate services to these children.
