$650 Million

Today the Vatican points out that it is not only the Church that has a problem with sexual abuse, even though the Church represents the only institution to have paid out $650 million in damages to victims of sexual predators whom the Church protected while they carried out their dirty business as priests, teachers, and school administrators.

Now we know that Bush is down on the public schools. Can you imagine how much downer he would be if state boards of education had spent the past 150 years protecting the jobs of pedophiles. It makes one wonder, then, about his enthusiasm to provide $350 million in tax-supported vouchers for our kids to go Church schools where these abusers still operate in some commuities with impunity.
